As Captain America and leader of the Avengers, Chris Evans knows a real-life superhero when he sees one. The actor recently sent a sweet video message to a young boy who saved his sister from a dog attack, and the star promised to send him an official Captain America shield for his courageous act. "Pal, you're a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless — your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you," Evans said in a message to 6-year-old Bridger.

Oliver Stone is not a fan of the current state of Hollywood and is in no hurry to work with a studio on a mainstream film as he says the town has gone "mad.Everything has become too fragile, too sensitive. Hollywood now — you can't make a film without a COVID adviser. You can't make a film without a sensitivity counselor. It's ridiculous." Asked to expound on his gripes, Stone explained, "You know, I just read something about how films are going to be very expensive to make now, because you need to take all these precautions, and a 50-day shoot becomes a 60-day shoot, and social distancing for actors. Stone is not done completely with making movies, saying he is in the midst of a couple of documentaries. "One is on J.F.K. Since the film came out in 1991, there's been quite a bit of new material revealed that people have basically ignored. It's a hell of a story." The other documentary, A Bright Future, will focus on the clean energy, including nuclear energy.

Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Ellen Pompeo are joining the ranks of stars who are advocating for the importance of face masks during the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo launched "Mask Up America," a star-studded campaign urging Americans to wear face masks in public to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The campaign includes a series of short videos, produced by Tribeca films CEO Jane Rosenthal and directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, that feature celebrities talking about the importance of wearing face masks. The campaign will debut eight public service announcements with celebs De Niro, Kaitlyn Dever, Jamie Foxx, John Leguizamo, Anthony Mackie, Rosie Perez and Pompeo. The first two videos, with voice-overs by Freeman and Jeffrey Wright, came out Thursday. The PSAs will air in donated media time and space throughout the country.

Cinemas in China, the world's second-biggest theatrical film market, were given the official greenlight Thursday to resume business beginning July 20. Not all movie theaters in China will be opening at once, however. The Film Administration's directive says that theaters in areas at "low-risk" for coronavirus infection will be permitted to "resume business July 20 in an orderly manner," but multiplexes in "middle and high-risk regions must remain temporarily closed." The wording of the notice suggested that provincial party leaders will be responsible for assessing their own region's risk level. It was unclear what thresholds, or criteria, would be used to define risk levels.
