Kate Winslet has broken Tom Cruise’s underwater filming record while filming Avatar 2. The Titanic star beat Cruise’s previously set record from 2011 when the latter was filming Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, during which he held his breath underwater in a whirlpool for six minutes. Winslet, who is set to star in James Cameron’s sci-fi sequel, managed to stay underwater for seven minutes and 14 seconds while filming – and wasn’t aware she was setting a new record at the time.

Studio Ghibli has shared another batch of artwork from some of its classic films, including My Neighbour Totoro. The animation house began sharing new images from its arsenal of films, shorts and TV shows earlier this year. The latest drop includes 50 images each for five of its films, including Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 fantasy film My Neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso – the 1992 film about a WWI pilot-turned-pig – and 1989’s Kiki’s Delivery Service, which centered around a 13-year-old girl and her talking cat Jiji.

Casting notice for a biopic starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana stipulates that British-European passport holders need not apply for the role of her son. British actors will be barred from auditioning to play Prince William in a forthcoming film, because of new restrictions introduced after the country separates from the EU in January. A new casting notice asking for boys aged between nine and 12 years old, who could conceivably play William at age 11, stipulates that only European passport holders can apply. “Not British-European,” warns the note, “due to new Brexit rules from 1st January 2021.”

Yas Creative Hub and located on Abu Dhabi’s artificial Yas Island will become the center for Abu Dhabi’s media, gaming and entertainment sector, with state-of-the-art TV and other types of studios and office space for media companies such as CNN, Ubisoft, Vice and Sky News Arabia. The content creation hub is conceived as a space where well established content creation industries and broadcast media and advertising will be located, alongside more innovative sectors such as visual effects and video game development.The plan is for the Yas Creative Hub to drive the UAE’s media and entertainment industry’s growth, the goal being to triple the number of professionals working in the field in Abu Dhabi to 16,000 over the next 10 years.
