Filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts (“Kong: Skull Island”) is set to direct and produce a live-action adaptation of wildly popular anime series “Gundam” for Legendary and Netflix. Famed comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan (“Y: The Last Man”) is writing the screenplay and will executive produce. After Pacific Theatres announced Monday that it would not reopen any of its locations, Los Angeles film lovers quickly took to social media with a worry: What would happen to the crown jewel in Pacific’s portfolio, the historic Cinerama Dome? Over 8,000 have already signed a change.org petition to “Save The Cinerama Dome.” By “save,” the petitioners want the Dome to continue its service as a landmark location for premier exhibition. Now that Arclight Theaters has declined to continue in that role, making that happen will require an exhibitor who shares that appetite in a fractured and uncertain business environment. However, there’s also the other kind of “save.” High-rises are going up all over Hollywood; could a developer bulldoze the historic dome to make way for more luxury condos?...

The Australian federal government has extended two key film and funding initiatives. “The highly effective A$50 million ($38 million) Temporary Interruption Fund will be extended for a further six months, to provide coverage for productions that commence principal photography prior to 31 December 2021,” said Paul Fletcher, federal Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, on Sunday. In addition, as announced last year, the Government will raise the Producer Offset rate from 20% to 30% for other eligible formats such as drama and documentary content for television and streaming platforms.”...

According to the BBC, advancements in technology have made exoskeleton suits a reality. These suits are rapidly becoming commonplace in many environments, leading to the development of more powerful and complex apparatus that provide different kinds of support, from preventing muscle fatigue to increasing grip strength. By 2030, exoskeleton suits could become a $6 billion industry...

Thirty-nine percent of Americans think that Netflix has the best original streaming content, according to third-party data. Over the years, movie studios saw how successful Netflix was becoming and how much money they were making. What's worse was that Netflix was making money off of streaming other studios' films, which caused them to do something about it. In just the past year alone, we have seen several studios launching their own streaming services, including Universal's Peacock, Warner Bros.'s HBO Max, Paramount's Paramount+ rebranding, and the successful scaling up of Disney+. In addition, there are still Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ among many others. Most of these studios have been pulling their content from Netflix in order to pad their own services, causing Netflix to ramp up the production of their own original content.
