Quentin Tarantino’s fans can watch some of his iconic movies come to life in “Tarantino Live: Fox Force Five & The Tyranny of Evil Men,” a hybrid theater experience that immerses audiences in Tarantino’s Cinematic Universe. Described as a “postmodern cabaret experience,” the 90-minute show takes place at The Bourbon Room in Los Angeles through the end of September, and features a combination of Broadway-style live action scenes coupled with songs from Tarantino films including, “Pulp Fiction,” “Kill Bill,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Jackie Brown,” and “The Hateful Eight.”...

Though the Venice Film Festival will serve as a launching pad for several blockbusters, festival artistic director Alberto Barbera this year is introducing a section called Horizons Extra, dedicated to more offbeat works of all genres with no length constraints although they must be more than an hour long. These pics will be judged by festgoers. The Horizons Extra section is an extension of Horizons, the Venice section focusing on new trends in world cinema that, under Barbera, became a competition instrumental in promoting emerging auteurs. Plans to overhaul Rome’s iconic Cinecittà Studios and potentially turn them into the top European filming facility were officially unveiled Tuesday at the Venice Film Festival with Italian culture minister Dario Franceschini and Stan McCoy, who is chief of the Motion Picture Assn. for Europe, on hand.
