AMC Networks chief Josh Sapan told The Hollywood Reporter that Acorn TV has "among the lowest churn" among major services owing to its focus as well as viewers' "dedication and affinity" for its content.

The Drama League is devoting substantial resources to overhaul its marquee program, the Directors Project, in an effort to better support creatives at all stages of their careers. Led by artistic director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks and executive director Bevin Ross, the League is investing millions over the next decade through new and expanded programs. The revamped initiative is the result of a company-wide evaluation that was undertaken during the pandemic, a period in which many who work in the arts lost work. The broadened Directors Project will offer fellowships for early-stage directors, programs to help mid-career theater directors transition into film and television, and assistantships for young BIPOC creatives to shadow established BIPOC directors. The different programs vary in length and run up to two years...

The “007xSKYSCAPE: The James Bond Immersive Exhibition” takes place at the Skyscape in Midtown Manhattan, where  “projection mapping and larger-than-life installations take you inside the magic of 007.” Tickets are available through the end of the year for $23 apiece. A VIP package comes with an 156-page hardback book titled after the exhibit. The 90-minute walk-through is catered towards filmmaking buffs and Bond fans alike, featuring never-before-seen images, animations and interviews from the set of “Skyfall.” The exhibit also showcases iconic memorabilia from past films, including Bond’s Aston Martin DB5, and recognizable gadgets and devices from Q’s lab.
In London, the Bond experience looks a bit more posh. The “Bond for a Day: Immersive Tour and Dining Experience” includes a visit to Mayfair, the Floris Museum, and a shooting range — topped off with a Vesper and Vodka Martini at the 5-star Taj Hotel. The tour  is led by an espionage expert who takes guests to various locations related to Ian Fleming and the “secret corners” he references throughout his books. The day’s six-hour schedule also includes a lesson on counter-surveillance techniques and a shooting range session using Bond’s preferred weapons...

“TekWar” was William Shatner’s ’90s sci-fi passion project. Thirty-odd years later, he’s adapting his sci-fi world into an adult animated television series. The “TekWar” novels are set in the year 2043 and follow a former detective in futuristic Los Angeles who was framed for the crime of dealing an illegal mind-altering drug in the form of a bio-digital microchip. It poses a great threat to humanity and has the potential to become a virus that will lead to an unrecoverable future. Shatner’s nine “TekWar” novels, which were ghost-written by Ron Goulart, were published from 1989 to 1997. The “TekWar” novels were adapted into a variety of mediums, including four television movies, a two-season live-action series, as well as comic books and a video game...

Visual Effects Society announced the 2021 honorary members, including James Cameron and Gary Demos, VES fellows and inductees entering the hall of fame. The celebration will take place at a special event this Fall. Cameron, an Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning filmmaker, achieved notoriety after winning the Academy Award for best director for “Titanic.” Alongside Cameron is Demos, who was a founder of Digital Productions and was awarded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Scientific and Engineering award in 1984. Hall of Fame inductees include: Roy Field, a VFX supervisor known for his work on “Labyrinth and “Superman;” John P. Fulton, a cinematographer known for “Wonder Man” and “The Ten Commandments;” Phil Kellison, whose specialties include stop-motion animation forced perspective; Auguste and Louis Lumière, best known for their cinematographe motion picture system and films they produced between 1895 and 1905 and John Whitney Sr., known for his collaboration with Saul Bass on the title sequence for Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo.”...

Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lady Gaga, J.J. Abrams and more than 60 other musicians, actors and artists are urging entertainment industry executives to ask Congress to pass climate change legislation. The group of artists teamed up with the NRDC Action Fund to write a letter to Warner Music Group CEO Lincoln Benet, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and others about their support for President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bills. They wrote, “Congress has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in a clean, just, and equitable future for all by passing the robust climate action that President Biden called for in his Build Back Better agenda.”...
