Apple rereleases ‘CODA’ in U.K. Cinemas. The history-making best picture Oscar winner will get a limited run, with captions for the deaf and hard of hearing. The return follows a similar move in the U.S., where CODA is getting a limited theatrical rerun in more than 600 theaters. CODA was written and directed by Heder, produced by Vendôme Pictures and Pathé, with Rousselet, Gianfermi, Wachsberger, and Jérôme Seydoux serving as producers, and Ardavan Safaee and Sarah Borch-Jacobsen as executive producers...

Warner Bros. has acquired theatrical rights to the CNN and HBO Max film, which chronicles the harrowing story of Putin detractor Alexei Navalny. In light of world events, Warner Bros. and Fathom have decided to give Navalny — the doc about Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was targeted in an assassination attempt in August 2020 — a special release in more than 800 theaters on April 11-12...

"Moon Knight" is moving right along on Disney+, with the first two episodes of the six-episode miniseries now available for Marvel fans to stream at their heart's content. The first QR code in "Moon Knight" shows up at around the five-minute mark of the first episode when Steven Grant is showing the little girl around the museum. As has been pointed out by quite a few people on Twitter, there are QR codes on the wall next to the sarcophagus that Steven is showing to this unsuspecting girl. When that QR code is scanned, it takes viewers to a website that allows them to read a free comic book, specifically "Werewolf by Night" #32. Another, similar QR code is hidden within "Moon Knight" episode 2, this time around the 8:26 mark of the episode when Steven is exploring the secret storage unit that Marc has been using to keep his supplies. On storage locker 43 is another QR code and, when scanned, it takes readers to the very next issue in the series, "Werewolf by Night" #33...

Emmy Award-winning PBS series “Independent Lens” has announced its spring slate of documentary films, including Sundance favorite “Try Harder!,” from director Debbie Lum. The spring lineup kicks off on April 25 at 10 p.m., with additional titles available on PBS.org and the PBS Video app. “This spring we’re focusing on stories that shine light on a spectrum of youth perspectives, from ambitious high school students in San Francisco striving to navigate the college admissions system that feels stacked against them to Indigenous students in Utah’s Navajo Nation balancing universal teenage trials with issues in their community,” said Lois Vossen, executive producer of “Independent Lens.” “We hope viewers are inspired to think about new systems and practices in education, criminal justice reform, and representation that are needed within their own communities.”...

Jim Carrey said at age seven he saw his first movie, "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" starring Kurt Russell. Carrey recalled: "I saw it at the Willow Show on Yonge street in Toronto. I'll never forget that day. I was so thrilled to be in a movie theater. To me, movies are dreams. And the most important thing when you go to the movies is that you see people up there, making the right decisions or making the wrong decisions and trying to get back on the right path."...

In the pandemic-impacted movie marketplace, it might seem like the only films that succeed in theaters these days are blockbuster titles featuring superheroes. But that’s not the case, according to William Sherak, one of the principals at Project X Entertainment. Project X is focused on scoping out titles that don’t require breaking the bank to be financially viable.  “When you’re in the of mid-budget range, your cash-break number is such a lower number where I think we also have to redefine success, right?” said Sherak, who runs Project X with Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt. “Success no longer has to be $800 million at the box office with a mid-budget movie.”...

Apple TV+ is setting up a new series called "Chief of War," according to The Ankler. This will be a historical drama set in 1795 Hawaii, while its four kingdoms are at war. It focuses on a famed warrior named Ka'iana, who retired from Maui's army to live a quiet life as a simple fisherman. However, he's pulled back into battle when he becomes the focus of a prophecy that predicts he will be the one to bring peace to the islands. The "Game of Thrones" and "Aquaman" star (and Hawaiian native) Jason Momoa is heavily involved in "Chief of War," not only starring as Ka'iana but also co-writing alongside Thomas Paa Sibbett and Doug Jung...

"WALL-E" is arguably one of the most beloved Pixar films to date. Some of the best parts of the story are before the little trash robot comes in contact with humans at all. WALL-E doesn't really speak much, so all his emotion, all his feelings, come across through his movements. The tilt of his eyes, the angle of his head, the speed of his movements, and the objects he cares for are how we learn his story. Andrew Stanton not only drew inspiration from the silent film era, but that he and his team actually watched "at least one Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton film a day for a year in order to hone their ability to convey emotion silently."
