Tubi snared a multiyear deal with Lionsgate to be the exclusive ad-supported VOD streaming service for 30 feature films. The agreement encompasses titles not covered under Lionsgate’s Pay 1 theatrical output agreement with Starz, the cable and streaming provider that Lionsgate is in the midst of spinning off. Under the agreement, Tubi, which is part of Fox Entertainment, also will add more than 200 Lionsgate library titles to the free service. Among the Lionsgate films covered under the deal are: erotic thriller “Shattered,” starring John Malkovich, Frank Grillo, Cameron Monaghan and Lily Krug (currently streaming on Tubi); cop drama “Pursuit,” starring John Cusack and Emile Hirsch (coming to the service on June 27); and “Wolf Hound,” about a Jewish-American pilot shot down behind Nazi lines during World War II, starring Trevor Donavan, James Maslow and Michael Wayne Foster (streaming on Tubi in the fall of 2022)...

Sony Pictures Virtual Reality is gearing up to launch “Ghostbusters VR Academy,” which will let fans of the 38-year-old movie franchise train to become Ghostbusters themselves. The VR experience, described as an “immersive training simulator,” is being developed by Hologate, an operator of location-based virtual reality entertainment, in association with Ghost Corps. “Ghostbusters VR Academy” is slated to be available globally for at Hologate’s 400 locations by the end of 2022. “Ghostbusters VR Academy” is broken up into two distinct games: One in which players battle supernatural foes together using the famous proton packs, and a second in which Ghostbusters trainees will pilot the flying ECTO prototype vehicle. Other games published by Sony Pictures VR have included “Ghostbusters: Dimension” in collaboration with The Void, “Spider-Man: Homecoming VR,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home VR,” “Men in Black: First Assignment” in collaboration with Dreamscape, and “Zombieland: Headshot Fever.”...

Michael Fassbender has been nominated for two Oscars, worked with legendary directors like Ridley Scott and Danny Boyle, and found success in both serious biopics and comic book blockbusters. But one of the actor’s biggest goals had always eluded him: racing at Le Mans. Fassbender competed last week end in the legendary endurance race for Porsche, the longtime patron of his amateur racing career. The actor is driving a Porsche 911 RSR -19 alongside Canadian driver Zacharie Robichon and Porsche factory driver Matt Campbell. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the most iconic traditions in all of motorsports, taking place in Le Mans, France each year. The race is notable for having a fixed time, rather than a fixed distance. Instead of racing to complete a course in the shortest possible time, driving teams have 24 hours to drive as far as they possibly can. Whichever team covers the most distance is named the winner...

A new LEGO set rebuilds the world of Avatar’s Pandora in meticulous and vibrant detail. Though Avatar was released back in 2009, the film has been in the news a lot lately in advance of its sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. The Way of Water is set to be released in December and will be directed by James Cameron, who also directed the first film. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will return to the cast, to be joined by Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Jemaine Clement, and Everything Everywhere All at Once’s Michelle Yeoh. The original world of Pandora is depicted in LEGO’s new Avatar-based brick set. According to Brick Fanatics, this set will depict the Toruk Makto ∓ Tree of Souls. The set will feature the weeping-willow-like tree from the first film as its centerpiece, alongside the giant leonopteryx flying creature. The set also features four minifigures, though it is yet unclear which characters those figures will represent. The set will include 1,212 pieces and retail for $139.99. It is scheduled to release on October 1, a little over two months before The Way of Water hits theaters...
