The Golden Globes have been freed from the shackles of the Hollywood Foreign Press, following the news that Dick Clark Productions and Elridge had acquired all of the Golden Globes' assets, rights and properties from the corrupt organisation. As a result of these developments, the HFPA and its questionable membership base, will no longer functioning and as such, will dissolve with immediate effect. In the official statement, it was added that the 81st edition of the Golden Globe Awards are scheduled for Sunday, January 7, 2024. However, the event currently lacks a broadcast partner following the conclusion of the show's longstanding contract with NBC. Negotiations have taken place with various outlets, including NBC...

Previously, Avatar 3 was tipped for release on 20 December 2024 but has now sadly been pushed back a year to 19 December 2025. Avatar 4 won't be making a splash in theaters until 21 December 2029 - a hefty three years later than its original release date of 18 December 2026. Meanwhile, Avatar 5 will take audiences into the new decade with a new release date of 19 December 2031, a three-year pushback from its initial release of 22 December 2028. Although the news is undoubtedly an unwelcome blow to eager viewers, the good news is that by 2031 technology will likely have advanced significantly enough that Pandora will only benefit from it. Given that Cameron chose to hold out on The Way of Water's release with technological advancement in mind, perhaps better will come of it...

Steven Soderbergh isn’t losing sleep over the rise of artificial intelligence in Hollywood. The “Full Circle” limited series director said during the Tribeca Festival that A.I. can “absolutely not” finish a full script on its own. “I may be the Neville Chamberlain of this subject, but I am not afraid of A.I. in this specific context. It has no life experience,” Soderbergh said. “It’s never been hungover. It’s never made a meal for anybody it loved. It’s never been scared walking home late at night. It’s never felt insecure because somebody that it went to high school with 20 years ago has become incredibly successful. I’m not afraid of it. It’s just another tool.”...

John Whittingdale, U.K. Minister of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, has unveiled his vision for the sector on the back of the British government’s ambitious plans to grow the creative industries by $63 billion. Sphere in Las Vegas isn’t just a round vehicle for a series of fall U2 concerts — it’s also host to an immersive screen of mammoth proportions that will be its own attractions when there aren’t any world-class rock bands taking over the space. And even when they are, someone has still got to come up with the visual content that will be part-and-parcel with any live residency there. As part of the rollout for Sphere Studios was Big Sky, described as “an ultra-high resolution camera system” that is “the first of the Studios’ many groundbreaking immersive innovations. Postcard From Earth” opens in the Vegas venue on Oct. 6, with showtimes booked for now around U2’s dates there. Tickets for that long-term engagement went on sale in April. “Sphere Studios is not only creating content, but also technology that is truly transformative,” said David Dibble, chief executive officer of MSG Ventures, the division of Sphere Entertainment focused on developing new tech for live entertainment, in a statement. “Sphere in Las Vegas is an experiential medium featuring an LED display, sound system and 4D technologies that require a completely new and innovative approach to filmmaking. We created Big Sky – the most advanced camera system in the world – not only because we could, but out of innovative necessity. With movie ticket sales still lagging behind pre-pandemic highs, multiplex operators across Asia have begun deploying unconventional strategies to generate excitement and attract people back to the cinema. Earlier this month in Thailand, Major Cineplex Group, the country’s largest movie theater chain, launched pet-friendly cinemas at three of its locations. Dubbed “i-Tail Pet Cinema,” the venues offer pet food and pet beverage concessions, as well as vending machines selling pet toys and accessories. The cinemas themselves are open to cats and small-breed dogs weighing less than 11 pounds (5 kilograms), but they must be kept in provided carriers or wear pet diapers...
