Oscar-nominated stars Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan are going to battle in WWII for Steven Spielberg’s new Apple TV+ limited series, “Masters of the Air.” Spielberg reunites with “Saving Private Ryan” star Tom Hanks and fellow “Band of Brothers” producer Gary Goetzman to executive produce “Masters of Air,” based on Donald L. Miller’s book “Masters of Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany.”...

Apple TV+ has announced a new original Peanuts feature film from WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide. The film will follow Snoopy and Charlie Brown’s biggest challenge yet, as the Peanuts characters embark on “an epic adventure to the Big City, learning the true meaning of friendship, while meeting some surprising new friends along the way.” Production from WildBrain Studios will begin in 2024. “Fans of all ages have been enamored with Peanuts on Apple TV+,” Tara Sorensen, Apple’s head of children’s programming, said in a statement. “With our unmatched library of Peanuts titles, and award-winning collection of stories that bring kids and families together, Apple TV+ is the preeminent home for Snoopy and friends, and offers a world class selection of series and films featuring the most globally cherished animated characters. “The White Lotus,” “Wednesday” and “Gladiator 2” are among the TV shows and movies expected to fuel travel and tourism trends in the coming year, according to the annual forecast from travel giant Expedia Group. Another emerging trend in travel is dubbed “Tour Tourism,” in which fans of top artists trek far from home to snag deals on concert tickets and hotel accomodations. Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna, Metallica, Olivia Rodrigo, the Jonas Brothers and the Foo Fighters are among the superstars who inspire fans to head for the airport. Expedia flagged these and other patterns in worldwide travel as part of its “Unpack ’24” report detailing consumer trends and tech tools relevant to the sector. The projections are based on Expedia Group’s vast data sets (the ecommerce travel giant is also home to Hotels.com and VRBO) as well as a global survey of 20,000 travelers...

Godzilla Minus One, the Japanese kaiju film directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, has roared its way into history books this weekend. It has raked in a whopping $1.2 million from merely 49 IMAX screens to not only become the biggest IMAX Opening ever for a live-action Japanese title in Japan but also secured its spot as the fourth-highest live-action IMAX opening and the fifth-highest IMAX local title opening in the country. The Godzilla movie franchise, which debuted in 1954, has over 37 films to its name and not all of them are connected. Instead, the movies can be categorized into distinct eras and universes, each with its own continuity or sometimes, a lack thereof. Tomoyuki Tanaka, a film producer at Toho, is widely considered the creator of the Godzilla franchise, first imagining the concept of a 500-ft lizard in the early 50s. Over the years, multiple Godzilla films have been made during the Showa, Heisei, Millennium, and Reiwa eras, as well as multiple standalone adaptations such as the 1998 American film Godzilla...

For the first time ever, the hills will be alive with the sound of Christopher Plummer. You can now listen to the late actor's heretofore unused vocal tracks from The Sound of Music. Plummer's long-unheard vocal tracks from the classic musical will be released on a new deluxe edition of The Sound of Music's soundtrack. A first look at Plummer's singing has been released on YouTube, featuring Plummer's romantic duet with Julie Andrews on "Something Good", one of the original songs Richard Rodgers wrote exclusively for the film version of the stage musical he wrote with Oscar Hammerstein II. To the untrained ear, Plummer's singing sounds perfectly fine, but studios were quick to overdub an actor's singing at the time. Although Plummer did sing all of his parts during the filming of The Sound of Music, he did not have the vocal range or extensive musical training of his co-star Julie Andrews. Thus, in the finished film, Plummer's vocal tracks were re-recorded by Bill Lee, a member of the singing quartet the Mellomen. The remastered soundtrack will include all of Plummer's vocals and the overdubbed versions, as well as a number of songs that were cut from the finished film. It will be available in a number of formats; they will all be released on December 1, 2023 - just in time to end up in brown paper packages tied up with strings for the holidays...
