Apple TV+ debuted the teaser for “Presumed Innocent,” the upcoming, eight-part limited series starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal, hailing from multi-Emmy Award winners David E. Kelley and executive producer J.J. Abrams. “Presumed Innocent” will make its global debut on Apple TV+, premiering the first two episodes on Wednesday, June 12, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through July 24....

Francis Ford Coppola has revealed that his upcoming science-fiction drama Megalopolis could contain footage captured from 9/11. Conceived as Coppola's labor of love, work on the movie began as early as 1989, but Coppola did not fully revive the idea until 2019 and ended up self-funding the $120 million production. Megalopolis has been a passion project for Coppola, and there are still no guarantees the movie will not fall at the final hurdle. It is possible that, with the director keen on a theatrical release for the film, he may choose to omit the 9/11 footage entirely, but it depends on how strong his vision is. Not a director to compromise on his ideas, there is every chance the footage will make it into the final cut, but audiences will have to wait to see if Megalopolis even gets a guaranteed release at this point...

Weeks after the Sundance Film Festival announced that is was opening up exploratory conversations about leaving its longtime home of Park City, the Slamdance Film Festival has announced that its 2025 fest will not be taking place in the Utah resort town. Next year’s Slamdance — the more indie cousin of Sundance — will take place in Los Angeles, from Feb. 20 to 26. “The festival aims to be financially accessible,” said today’s announcement, addressing an oft cited concern that the festival’s Park City location has too high of a price point for the indie filmmaking community. The fest will take place in venues in and surrounding Hollywood, including the Landmark Theatres and the DGA Theater Complex, with in-person passes starting at $50.00 and many programs free to the public. Panasonic LUMIX will be the official sponsor of the 2025 fest; additional industry partners include the DGA, Landmark Theatres, and Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO...

Mickey vs. Winnie is the latest movie to transform iconic public domain children's characters into bloodthirsty horror villains. The most notable entry in the unusual subgenre is 2023's Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which turned A. A. Milne's iconic characters from the Hundred Acre Wood into feral slasher villains. The movie was followed by a sequel and has several upcoming Twisted Childhood Universe spinoffs in development following characters including Bambi, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio, leading to the upcoming crossover Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. iHorror has announced that they are currently in production in Michigan on a new public domain exploitation movie titled Mickey vs. Winnie that is in the same irreverent tradition as Blood and Honey but is nevertheless unrelated. The movie, which is being directed by Glenn Douglas Packard from his own screenplay, will pit Winnie the Pooh against the Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse, which recently entered the public domain.
