It’s a whodunit with a whole lot of drama. Jennifer Lawrence will get to feud, day-drink and access oodles of disposable income, at least until a body turns up, in “The Wives,” a murder mystery that is in the vein of “The Real Housewives.”Apple Original Films acquired the project in what it is describing as a “highly competitive situation.” Lawrence will produce the film alongside Justine Ciarrocchi for her company, Excellent Cadaver. Tony and Independent Spirit Award nominee Jeremy O. Harris (“Zola,” “Slave Play”) and Josh Godfrey will also produce the picture under their bb2 banner. It is currently in development....

Following the unexpected shuttering of the MTV News website, Paramount has now largely cleaned house on the sites for several more of its cable channels, in a potential cost-cutting move. The sites for Comedy Central, CMT, Yellowstone airer Paramount Network and TV Land were instead directing users to the media conglomerate’s streaming platform Paramount+. MTVnews.com was taken down, purging some 20 years of stories from the web. A pop-up window on the Comedy Central site reads, “While episodes of most Comedy Central series are no longer available on this website, you can watch Comedy Central through your TV provider. You can also sign up for Paramount+ to watch many seasons of Comedy Central shows.” Paramount said in a statement, “As part of broader website changes across Paramount, we have introduced more streamlined versions of our sites, driving fans to Paramount+ to watch their favorite shows.”...

Wim Wenders will be a special guest of Italy’s Cinema Ritrovato Festival dedicated to cinematic treasures of the past where a freshly restored copy of his “A Trick of the Light” (“Die Gebrüder Skladanowsky”), which pays tribute to forgotten pioneers of the moving image, will have its world premiere. Shot by Wenders with a group of students from the Munich Film Academy in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of cinema, the film is about the origins of cinema and its German inventors: the Skladanowsky brothers who On Nov. 1, 1895, presented a show of eight film loops at Berlin’s Wintergarten, six weeks before the more famous Lumiere freres’ exhibition in Paris...

Marilyn Monroe‘s house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood was approved in its historical cultural monument nomination by the Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday, a designation which is intended to help protect the landmark from demolition. Monroe lived for approximately six months in the 1929 four-bedroom Spanish Colonial-style house, then died of an apparent overdose there in 1962. The L.A. Conservancy wrote in its proposal for landmark status that the house was “the first place she sought out and bought for herself and on her own while actively working in 1962.”...

“The Bikeriders” costume designer Erin Benach had eight months to develop the leather jackets. Jeff Nichols’ latest drama follows a Midwestern biker club in the 1960s, inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photo book about the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. With the movie set in the 1960s, Benach sought to find a thicker, calf leather. Once she had the leather, she needed to go through a process of distressing each jacket and aging it. She and her team sanded them down and beat them down. No two jackets were the same; they were customized to each actor...

“Street Fighter” has landed a March 20, 2026 domestic release date from Sony. The film, from Legendary, is co-developed and produced with Japanese game distributor Capcom. Legendary nabbed the film and television rights to the highly popular gaming series in 2023. Since the franchise launched in 1987, Street Fighter has sold over 49 million units worldwide, becoming one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. It also spawned other games, spin-offs and crossovers featuring characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile and M. Bison. Capcom is behind other popular games like “Resident Evil” and “Monster Hunter.” This isn’t the first time “Street Fighter” has hit the big screen. Universal mounted an adaptation of the same name in 1994, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen and Raul Julia. In 2009, 20th Century Fox released “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” with Kristin Kreuk. Both projets were critical and commercial misfires...
