Focus Features has confirmed that Daniel Day-Lewis is coming out of retirement to star in a new film called "Anemone," co-written by Daniel Day-Lewis and his son, Ronan Day-Lewis. Ronan, a painter and visual artist, will make his feature directorial debut with this project, and the movie will co-star Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green. Ben Fordesman ("Love Lies Bleeding") will serve as the director of photography, Jane Petrie ("The Crown") is the costume designer, while Chris Oddy ("Zone of Interest") will be the movie's production designer. "Anemone" will explore "the intricate relationships between fathers, sons and brothers, and the dynamics of familial bonds." The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has unveiled two new exhibitions exploring how science has impacted technology, aesthetics and storytelling in cinema Oct. 6. “Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema,” investigates the role of color in film while “Cyberpunk: Envisioning Possible Futures Through Cinema” will examine the global impact of the science fiction subgenre cyberpunk on cinema culture. Senior Exhibitions Curator Jessica Niebel curated “Color in Motion” with the help of assistant curator Sophia Serrano, curatorial assistant Manouchka Kelly Labouba and research assistant Alexandra James Salichs. Niebel explained knowledge about the history of color in film is lacking and propelled her team to craft an exhibit that would engage and educate audiences about the area. The Philippines is to impose a 12% value-added tax on overseas digital service providers operating in the country, including Netflix, HBO and Disney. The measure was signed into law on Wednesday by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. “If you are reaping the rewards of a fruitful digital economy here, it is only right that you contribute also to its growth,” Marcos said in a speech during the signing event. The new law will level the taxes paid by local businesses and international digital platforms, he added, according to reporting by Bloomberg. The new law covers online search engines, media, advertising, platforms as well as digital marketplaces and goods and cloud services.
