Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for “Love You to Death” (“A muerte”), the Spanish-language romantic comedy hailing from Atresmedia TV and Goya Award-nominated Dani de la Orden (“Casa en Flames”) alongside Natalia Durán (Heavies tendres) and Oriol Capel (“Lo mejor de mí”). Starring Goya Award winner Verónica Echegui (“The Patients of Dr. García”) and Joan Amargós (“Show Yourself”), the seven-episode series will make its global debut on Apple TV+ Wednesday, February 5 with the first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through March 12...

Despite the ongoing fires in Los Angeles that have caused numerous deaths and billions in property damage, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel is determined to finish shooting Fast X: Part 2 in the City of Angels. Los Angeles served as the setting for the first film all the way back in 2001, but since then, the franchise has gone global, and visited such locales as Tokyo, England, Azerbaijan, and Berlin. it was Brewster who opened his eyes to bringing the franchise back to where it all started, and now he's as determined as ever to make that happen. "Last week, during the fires that displaced LA… my sister Jordana reached out to me and said… Please have Universal film the rest of Fast X Part 2 in LA. Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home. All love…"...

Neil Burger is continuing his thriller streak with Inheritance, a grounded twist on the spy genre all fixed on an iPhone. With the ever-evolving technology Apple is putting into their iPhone series, many filmmakers are taking to utilizing the mobile device for their movies, namely Steven Soderbergh with Unsane and High Flying Bird. Even still, it's clear there's a lot of room for Burger and others to experiment with shooting on iPhones, as he notes the choices of lenses can be fairly slim. However, with his enjoyment of the experience, it's clear he may continue to work with it in the future...

France’s Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques, the group behind the country’s national film awards, the Césars, is quitting X. In an announcement on Monday, the César Academy said it had deleted its account on the platform, noting that the public positions taken by owner Elon Musk means X “no longer corresponds” to the Academy’s stated values. “The Academy’s mission is to promote cinema in all its diversity,” read the statement. “It supports all forms of artistic expression, without distinction of origin or identity of those who contribute to the creation or distribution of films. The César Academy believes that the X platform, particularly due to the actions and stances of its leader, no longer aligns with its values. Therefore, it is withdrawing from the platform effective immediately.”...

"The Big Bang Theory" ended its 12-season run in 2019, but apparently, it's still a major hit with audiences. According to Deadline, the series was the "most-binged" title in all of streaming in 2024. According to Nielsen, "The Big Bang Theory" boasted an average of 265.5 episodes per audience member, which apparently translates to 29.1 billion minutes of streaming (which is seriously impressive). The show also managed to place seventh in all of the year's most-streamed titles, and 58% percent of its audience was from the highly valuable age group of 18 to 49. Deadline also noted that, in the Nielsen report, "most-binged" is drawn from shows that have at least 50 episodes ("The Big Bang Theory" has 279) and viewers had to spend the length of a single episode, which in the case of this series is about 20 minutes, in order to qualify...

“The Legend of Ochi,” Isaiah Saxon‘s highly anticipated feature directorial debut that is set to make its world premiere at Sundance this week. The A24 film was originally slated to open on Friday, February 28, but has been shifted to April 25 to accommodate Saxon after he lost his home in the fires. An official synopsis for “The Legend of Ochi” reads: In a remote village on the island of Carpathia, a shy farm girl named Yuri is raised to fear an elusive animal species known as ochi. But when Yuri discovers a wounded baby ochi has been left behind, she escapes on a quest to bring him home. “The Legend of Ochi” stars Finn Wolfhard, Helena Zengel, Willem Dafoe, and Emily Watson. The fantasy epic attracted early attention for its adorable eponymous mascot, which many were quick to compare to beloved characters like Grogu from “The Mandalorian” and the Gremlins. Saxon spent six years working on the film, making countless matte paintings by hand and overseeing puppetry and animatronics...

The 30th annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival, hosted by Film at Lincoln Center and Unifrance, is celebrating the work of acclaimed actor Vincent Lindon. While the 2025 festival is not entirely honoring Lindon himself, the actor appears in a whopping trio of featured films and also will be onsite for Q&As and introductions. Lindon stars in Quentin Dupieux’s meta-comedy “The Second Act,” which opened the 77th Cannes Film Festival, as well as Gilles Bourdos’ dramatic thriller “Cross Away” and Delphine Coulin and Muriel Coulin’s “The Quiet Son” (Lindon won Best Actor at the 81st Venice Film Festival for that drama). The 2025 Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival takes place from March 6 to March 16. The program has 23 films included, with a select few as part of Unifrance’s 10 to Watch 2025 Program, a yearly initiative honoring a new generation of directors and actors who contribute to the vitality of French creation...
