A sequel to The Simpsons Movies is coming in 2027, but it will never reach the twisted heights of another The Simpsons-based movie that's now in the works. However, rather than follow the comedic exploits of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, the story drops the mythos of the beloved characters into the post-apocalypse, where Matt Groening's long, long, long-running sitcom is the only pop culture that has survived the end of the world. Titled Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play, the warped tale is now set to be helmed by one of the modern era's most uniquely talented filmmakers, Boots Riley. Best-known for the likes of Sorry to Bother You and the equally twisted superhero series I'm a Virgo, Riley himself took to X/Twitter to confirm that he will bring Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play to the big screen. Following rumors of the adaptation, Boots Riley simply stated, "This is a true thing." Showing that, sometimes these mysterious rumors and sources do get things right...
