CONFERENCE
|
|
|
-
The
Annual Tri-District
Conference October 25, 26, 27, will take
place in Pueblo, Colorado. There will be
plenty of opportunity to do matchmaking for
International Humanitarian Matching Grants.
This year, there will be one, two, or three
ways to inform prospective partner clubs
about your exciting projects. (See"How
to Submit a Grant Proposal.") If
you have never prepared a grant proposal
- or even if you have - there will be expert
guidance in English and Spanish.

ABOUT PUEBLO
|
The
City of Pueblo has a long
and colorful history dating back to 1842 when
it was called Fort Pueblo. What brought our city
from a small Fort in southern Colorado, to the
backbone of Colorado, were the ore mines. This
area once housed four separate towns: Pueblo,
South Pueblo, Central Pueblo and Bessemer. These
four towns together now make up the City of Pueblo.
The City of Pueblo is also known as "America's Home of Heroes",
as was proclaimed by the United States Congress
in 1993. Pueblo hosts National Medal of Honor
Day and has had as many as four living Medal
of Honor recipients living in our community.

CONFERENCE SETTING
|
The conference will take place at the Pueblo Convention
Center.
- The size of the convention hall for the grants
is 150 feet by 200 feet. It can be expanded if
necessary.
- There will be plenty of tables for
grant projects to be displayed on. Booth spaces
are scheduled to be 8 ft. X 8 ft. and could be
as large as 8 X 10 feet.
- The convention
room is open with no walls, so there will be
no issues with space as in previous project fairs.
Grants teams will have a special corner with
separation from the crowd to set up and process
grants.
- Internet Wi fi is ordered for the event.
Please make sure your laptops or PC's are set
up for Wi fi use.
- The event will have a specialist
on site at the beginning of the project fair
to assist you in getting on line.
- There will be no
land line to hook up to for internet connections.
- Please note to bring your individual power
strips, extension cords, UPC's for your own equipment.
- If
you wish to print, please bring a portable printer
with you for your needs. A commercial quality
copier will be onsite for use by participants.
- The projects page is up and available on the
website for posting of projects to it.
- Please
review the process for posting so that you may
communicate clearly the process to participants
wishing to post to the site page.

MATCHING GRANT PROCESSING OUTLINE
|
This year as last, District 5470 will attempt to
have all of their grants submitted to the Rotary
Coordinator for D 4110, Mireya Dominguez who will
be a guest at the conference , by late Saturday Afternoon.
We plan to have each grant with completed paper work,
scanned into Adobe pdf and sent on to Evanston with
copies to all the appropriate parties.
To do this,
we MUST HAVE THE COMPLETED PAPER WORK AT THE CONFERENCE.
We are asking that all participants bring
- 3 copies
of a completed page 2 of the 141-EN with 3 contact
names (if you plan to be a host partner)
- 3 copies
of a completed page 3 of the 141-EN with 3 contact
names (if you plan to be an international partner),
- 3 copies of page 7 of the 141-EN that will
contain the signatures of the 3 contacts PLUS
THE CLUB PRESIDENT.
- And 3 copies of page 8 of the 141-EN
that contain the signature of the individual
responsible for the final report for the grant
Please have
these in hand when you go to negotiate your grant.
We will help with page 5 of the 141-EN in an effort
to finalize the financing necessary to complete
the grant. Of course you will need:
- Page 1:
the grant description and,
- Page 4: the completed budget
Since these don't require specific signatures,
they can be completed at the conference, but the
others requiring contact information and appropriate
signatures should be brought with you to the conference.
It is perfectly satisfactory to have these documents
completed in Spanish, as we will have an abundance
of translators to help with grant preparation.
A downloadable step by step grant process
guideline is available on this site on the Download page
Thanks for your help in completing all
the appropriate documents and bringing them to
the conference.

THE TRI-DISTRICT CONFERENCE
BACKGROUND
|
In
1989-90 the 5520 District
Governor Sonny Brown and the 4110 District
Governor Boni Mora initiated a joint
Conference between our district and the Mexican
district to our immediate South. The purpose
of the conference was to encourage international
cooperation through fellowship, and by creating
humanitarian grants to benefit the poor and
needy. Over the years this conference has led
to many mutually beneficial activities between
the two districts. In 2002, PDG Bonnie
Fairall got together with PDG Thompson and
invited District 5470 to join what became the
first Tridistrict conference in Chihuahua,
Mexico. This year's celebration is being hosted
by District 5470 in Pueblo, Colorado.
-
Through
fellowship and festivities, mutual understanding
and caring has become the predominant
characteristic of exchange between the
3 districts. There has been an increasing
participation in grants for such projects
as homes for orphans and street children,
assistance for the deaf, operations for
cleft palates, medical facilities and
equipment, literacy projects, clean drinking
water, safe housing, parks and much more.
Each year the number of Rotarians from
districts 4110, 5470, 5520 who have participated
has grown; the total dollars invested
in human lives increased. This, in itself,
is a remarkable accomplishment.
-
The
conference provides the opportunity to
learn matching grant procedures and find
other clubs that are interested in promoting
similar projects. Registration, hotels
and grant proposal submittals can all
be done online.
