BANDELIER
NATIONAL MONUMENT
This is one of the most
spectacular remnants of the Anasazi, ancestors
of today’s Pueblo Indians, who settled
in the canyon a millennium ago. There is
a small museum in the visitor center with
exhibits on the area’s cultures and
artifacts, along with a snack bar and picnic
tables.

THE
HIGH ROAD TO TAOS
Pressing into the Sangre
de Cristo Mountains this route is the most
scenic between Santa Fe and Taos. The small,
isolated mountain towns sprinkled along the
way retain the flavor of the early Spanish
settlers who came here four centuries ago.

TAOS
HISTORIC MUSEUMS
The Hacienda de los Martinez
is one of the few northern New Mexico style
houses remaining in the Southwest. The Kit
Carson Home was home to a famous frontiersman
from 1843 to 1868 and the Millicent Rogers
Museum houses one of the Southwest's most
important regional collections.
