This is a project to sponsor students from the Sierra Tarahumar (Copper Canyon) region of Mexico in their studies beginning with Jr. High. Most students are female Tarahumara Indians. - Summary
This is a brand new projet for our club and we are very excited about it. The project consists of 3 phases, the first one is educational and takes place in the elementary low income schools, a trainer goes to the school and teaches the kids how to plant vegetables and fruit trees, planting a little farm in the school yard, this gets the kids involved and excited, they learn about the monetary and ecological value of a family farm, the ones interested get their parents involved and the trainer goes to their house to start the farm with up to 5 fruit trees and up to 60 vegetable plants. In Juarez there are many areas where the city does not provide basic services like running water and sewer, and in this areas the people has to bring the potable water in trucks making it very expensive for them, so in most cases they have to learn to live without using water for their daily needs. We provide storing tanks for potable water(25,000 lts each). Los Ojos de Dios is the only not for profit center, all green building facility in the state of Chihuahua, to provide shelter, specialized medical attention, rehab theraphy and formal education for homeless, severely disabled kids. Children classified all over the sate will be shortly transfer to this center. It's totally operated on solar/wind energy. In the first phase of its construction, we provided this center with the Rehab equipment thanks to a Matching Grant that we are about to close and report.
