Diabetes mellitus type1
1 in Latin America is one of the major causes
of death by the complications without intervention.
Detection mainly in children, observing a
decrease of two decades in his life expectancy
, this results in a severe change in the
family or in government economics. The program
is to help children with diabetes is complete
and the goal is a best quality of life and
better understanding for all the family of
diabetes and his management with meetings
with the intervention of each family member
for correct dose in the medication, mainly
in the insulin doses, exercices. Detection
in the complications and a better foods rich
in minerals and vitamins without increases
in the glucose levels. with the equipment
With this project we benefit more than one
hundred and twenty boys and girls and their
immediate family. We also expect pediatricians
and endocronoligists to become involved . |

Most of the Children at
Casa Abrigo are Tarahumara Indians whom their
parents cannot provide the basic necessities
and are at risk for being on the streets.
The grant will provide school supplies and
equipment for Casa Abrigo including 10 computers,
desks, printers, wiring and kitchen supplies.
By providing for the school it is hoped to
keep the kids off the streets and ina school
program. |

To help provide furniture
for a kitchen and dormitory for 13 boys and
13 girls, ages 7 - 18, who have been separated
from their parents because of abuse, immorality
alcoholism or abandonment. The center will
provide temporary shelter and psychological
counseling for approximately 170 children
per year. |

The North Colorado Springs
RC will partner with a local organzation,
Care and Share Food Bank, to provide a back
pack of food for four individuals to 3rd
graders from the Lincoln Elementary School
to take home over the weekend to ensure a
continuing adequate diet for these disadvantaged
youth and their families. Rotarian volunteers
will fill the backpacks with food each week
and will deliver them to the school for the
students on Friday. |

The Parents Association
of Special Need people was created to help
improve the living conditions of people having
intellectual, sensorial,and physical limitations.
The orgazation works in different programs
to develop skills that will give them the
opportunity to find a job. The grant will
help provide equipment to increase the capacity
of the carpentry, sewing and tortilla shops. |
